Bottle Gourd (Ghiya/Lauki) ki Sabzi
Heylo...
Next, heat oil in the pan, and put ghiya slices into it.
Meanwhile, I sliced onions.
Then, add sliced onions to the pan.
Cook till the onion is a bit translucent.
Now add the salt, haldi, amchoor powder and red chilli powder evenly.
Mix well.
You may use the same recipe for Tinda sabji as well. It tastes even better than ghiya.
Do try and let me know how did you like the recipe.
I am planning to come up with a basic cooking course for teenage girls who love to cook and are looking for beginner tutorials of fun and daily dishes. Stay tuned.

Bottle gourd or ghiya/lauki as we all know by the hindi name, is a vegetable with high nutritional value. It is proven that having lauki daily will let you lose good amout of weight very soon.
But we all know how much our husbands and kids hate this veggie. So, today I'll share my mum's recipe of ghiya with all of you which I truly absolutely love and it made me eat ghiya without knowing that it is ghiya.
Okay so here's a quick list of what all you need -
1 bottle gourd/ghiya/lauki of about 3/4 kg.
2 big onions sliced
1 tablespoon oil
Salt according to your taste
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 1/2 teaspoon amchoor powder
1 teaspoon turmeric(haldi) powder
1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
I made this recipe in Wonderchef's Diamond pan. You can buy it here. In case you are not using a non-stick pan you may need to increase the amount of oil to 2.5 tablespoon oil.
OK , so to start, cut the ghiya in semi-circles, ie cut it in half vertically and then make thin slices of it. It will look something like this -
Next, heat oil in the pan, and put ghiya slices into it.
Meanwhile, I sliced onions.
Stir ghiya occasionally, till it gets a good pink / light brown color.
Then, add sliced onions to the pan.
Cook till the onion is a bit translucent.
Now add the salt, haldi, amchoor powder and red chilli powder evenly.
Mix well.
Now, put the lid on the pan and let it cook for another 5 min.
